![]() Read more: Why Arya Stark killing the Night King uncovered a mess of emotions about HBO's adaptation of George R.R. Martin had told them a general overview of his planned ending, but not the minor details. As we saw with Arya Stark and death of the Night King, Benioff and Weiss had to rework pieces from earlier seasons to fit them into major turning points of the final episode's storylines. Martin has yet to finish his book series and lay out all the intricate ways in which these prophecies will (or won't) play out with our main characters. Such is the tale of the forging of Lightbringer, the Red Sword of Heroes." It is said that her cry of anguish and ecstasy left a crack across the face of the moon, but her blood and her soul and her strength and her courage all went into the steel. ![]() "She did this thing, why I cannot say, and Azor Ahai thrust the smoking sword through her living heart. "'Nissa Nissa,' he said to her, for that was her name, 'bare your breast, and know that I love you best of all that is in this world.' A hundred days and a hundred nights he labored on the third blade, and as it glowed white-hot in the sacred fires, he summoned his wife. "Great was his woe and great was his sorrow then, for he knew what he must do. Then came the third blade, which was created when Azor Ahai killed his love, Nissa Nissa. (The second one was plunged into the heart of a lion.) Azor Ahai forged two swords, both of which shattered when he tried to temper the steel. ![]() There can’t be anymore princes or princesses starting war for power when their rulers are now elected. The story of Lightbringer is then told to Ser Davos Seaworth by Salladhor Saan. It was like a big neon sign flashing behind him, “this is not azor ahai”, as 200 swords melted. However he didn’t do it to gain power and behind him was 200 flaming swords and he never pulled one from the flames. People believe that jon was Azor Ahai because he stabbed Dany. She liked setting slaves free, and them freely choosing her. Dany was never going to get the power she wanted because she wanted the people to freely choose and love her. It was only a matter of time before she sacrificed jon because she saw him as an obstacle to her power. She never really sacrificed a loved one, well not deliberately, but I believe she was heading that way. She was prepared to kill anyone she saw in her way. She became desperate for power because of her losses. Over the ocean of course we had Dany who believed herself the rightful heir from the death of the king before Robert.ĭany also lost on water twice being the iron born and rhaegal, and lost on land to a lion (a lion is the king of the jungle) twice being highgarden and Missandei. In GoT we saw what happened when Robert died and Renly and Stannis fought over the throne believing themselves along with joffrey to be the rightful heir. This happens throughout history that when a king dies there will be conflict over who gains power. It is when the darkness gathers, being war. It is at this time that there will be challenges for the throne. It perhaps symbolises when a king has died, when he has reached his final stage. This is when it ejects most of its mass (bleeds). A red star is a star in its final stage of evolution (it’s dying) before it turns supernova. It’s pretty cheesy but as I have pointed out many times before, they do make metaphors literal. A red Herring perhaps? Don’t know if that was deliberate or not, but it is still entertaining. But if you look at a zoomed in image of that comet, it is actually in the shape of a Herring. So what does “when the red star bleeds and the darkness gathers” mean? Something mildly entertaining in the show is that the audience are led to believe the red comet is the red star bleeding. Reborn amidst salt and smoke is a lost battle, and well there is always tears and smoke in every battle. ![]() It is either a prince or princess because they are in line for power. He eventually sacrificed his daughter to ensure a win. Stannis fits into this category quite well given he lost on blackwater, then on land by Tywin Lannister. ![]() He eventually sacrifices his wife for the power. Fails with water and then fails with a lion. In the books Azor Ahai tries to make a powerful sword but keeps failing. The prophecy of Azor Ahai seems to be about someone who will sacrifice everything in order to win. ![]()
